Welcome
to KiltyCashel!
The villages
of Kiltyclogher, County Leitrim and Cashel, Co Fermanagh, just 5km
apart, have joined efforts across the international border to achieve
the best possible outcomes for their respective communities. This
unique combination has created a working partnership known as the
KiltyCashel Project, which aims to regenerate this border area and
share its delights with tourists and visitors.
KiltyCashel
is situated in the beautiful valley between Lough Melvin and Lough
Macnean in northwest Ireland, between the mountains of Big Dog /
Little Dog Mountains to the northeast and Dough and Thur Mountains
to the southwest. The valley is blessed with a plentiful supply
of rivers, lakes and spectacular scenery. The mountains provide
solitary walking trails, with unrivalled and frequently spectacular
scenery – while the lowlands provide quiet country lanes, suitable
for walking, cycling or simply enjoying the tranquility of the countryside.

Using Kiltyclogher
village as your holiday base, you can visit wonderful examples of
our natural heritage such as the County Bridge, carved of stone,
Lough Lattone fishing lake, and waterfalls in the Sraduffy River
just west of the village. Download
map (pdf file) The rich archaeological heritage has to be seen
to be believed, including chambered graves, giant’s stones, sweat
houses and stone circles, as well as the enigmatic Black Pig’s Dyke
(also known as the ‘Worm Ditch’), understood to have marked the
boundary of the ancient kingdom of Uladh (modern Ulster).

Kiltyclogher
was home to one of signatories to Ireland’s proclamation of a republic
in 1916, Séan MacDiarmaida. You can visit his cottage which
is now a local museum.
No matter what
you want from your holiday, Kiltyclogher can match your dreams in
a tranquil, rural setting!
